It’s like the familiarity of meeting up with an old friend in a completely new place. For me, what sets Soho House apart from other members clubs, is the focus on nurturing a community of creatives. There’s a much more laid back feel here compared to other private members clubs. With a Soho Friends membership you can stay at any of the houses, including Soho Farmhouse. Set across 100 acres of countryside, with a pool, cinema, gym, cowshed spa and 5 onsite restaurants.

Soho Farmhouse Booking: Everything You Need to Know
The Guardian trailed the news this week, noting GlassHouse’s forceful put down of the Soho business strategy. In a report, the New York traders suggested it might be heading in the same direction as WeWork, the tragic shared working provider that collapsed into bankruptcy. From intimate book clubs to film screenings and panel discussions, the opportunities for engagement, enlightenment and endless inspiration are endless. And a membership is, in fact, the access to all of them…and way more. I've seen one of my favorite artists through its Secret Sounds concerts.

If you’re going for the Local House membership, you’ll need to make sure there’s a location close enough to make it worth it. Attending to members’ overall well-being, Soho House gives access to in-house wellness spaces, including state-of-the-art gyms, serene spas, and invigorating swimming pools (where available). Since then, Soho House has extended its reach to the farthest corners of the planet, with a network of more than 27 exclusive members’ clubs across Europe, Asia, and North America. I think that changes the atmosphere and the vibe, especially since there usually is a lot of the older group. But, it's not really a negative thing since events tend to filter people based on interests. You can stay at some of the Soho House locations in London, but not all.
Soho Friends Membership: A Members Guide for 2024
As well as being a really generous perk, it’s also a handy money-saving hack. If you know you’re always going to be visiting with one person, you could split the cost of the membership between you. Whilst you save a lot of money with Soho Friends, the inability to just walk into one of the houses unless you’re spending the night meant I rarely used it.
That covers a much broader spectrum of jobs than it did when Soho House first started, but you’re not as likely to get accepted if you work in more traditional industries. I found it very difficult to book bedrooms on a weekend with my Soho Friends membership, and have heard the same from others. I wasn’t too fussed about this because it had only set me back £100, but it still felt frustrating that on average, I’d have to spend 3x that amount on the bedrooms JUST to use my membership. What I found happened with mine, is that I used it once to stay at Soho Farmhouse, and I quickly realised that not being able to use it in everyday life meant I wasn’t getting much value from it at all. Plus, I’ll explain why I decided to upgrade to the full membership, and whether I think Soho Friends is worth it. Ready to learn everything you need to know about the Soho Friends membership?

London’s most-coveted spaces can feel impenetrable – and getting a foot in the door of the numerous members’ clubs isn’t always easy. Of the dozens of clubs across the city, which are worth joining – and can you ever access the funkiest places without an astronomical fee? Soho House considers itself a ‘place for its diverse members to connect grow, have fun, and make an impact’. Dating back 25 years, Nick Jones opened the very first house and members’ club on Greek Street in London and was literally just that – a Georgian house in London’s Soho.
Soho House locations – in the UK
It’s one of my favourite places to visit for a night out, with a jam-packed calendar of events and brilliant pop up restaurants. I’ve had a membership for over 2 years, and know everything about visiting Soho House, the membership, and the benefits. With a Soho House membership, you can bring 3 guests with you every time you visit. Soho House is a global brand that’s made its mark on the hospitality industry.

I’ve written a full guide to the application process, and the 5 things you can do to make your application stand out. The application process is really simple and only takes around 15-minutes to complete. You’ll need a recent photo of yourself, and you’ll be asked some basic details. A great benefit of having a Soho House membership is that you get 15% discount off everything at Soho Home.
Unfortunately, you can only visit Soho Houses when you’re staying in the accompanying rooms. With other Soho House memberships, on the other hand, you can gain club access whenever you like, without the need to stay over, as well as access to facilities including pools, spas, and gyms. It does mean, however, that you can stay at any of the houses with bedrooms, including Soho Farmhouse, whenever you like. Do note that some Soho Houses do not have bedrooms, and so you will not be able to visit these locations with a Soho Friends membership. Soho Friends can benefit from tickets to festivals and events outside of the clubhouses. Of course, Soho House’s roots as a private members’ club and network for creatives remain today.
The main difference between a Soho House and Soho Friends membership, is that Soho Friends members can’t visit the houses unless they’re staying in the hotel. This means that there will be houses you can’t visit, as some don’t have bedrooms. You might want to be part of a buzzy community, have access to world class gyms, enjoy drinks on beautiful rooftops, or immerse yourself in a calendar of events. Soho House is a members club for creatives, with locations across the world, from Mumbai to Chicago. But it started life above a restaurant in Soho, and London remains the city with the most Soho House locations.
Here’s an example of some of the events at my local house in Barcelona. You’ll always be allowed entry, even if you haven’t reserved ahead of time (although this doesn’t guarantee you a table), so it’s really useful to be able to visit on a whim. Overall it’s about sharing common interests and values rather than having a rigid list of credentials to get in. Luckily you both being Soho House members makes it pretty easy as you can connect at future events, for co-working, or a nice swim and Picante by the pool. Your journey towards connection starts at the array of events and workshops Soho House offers year-round. But looking back I genuinely don’t think it would’ve mattered in comparison to just having an authentic application and a clear dedication to be part of the community.
But equally, if your main goal with your membership is to network and build connections, then the houses are your oyster too — it’s all about what works best for you. Now of course, I didn’t go into that day expecting to make connections. But due to the community nature of the houses, it’s not uncommon to make new connections this way. As you’ve probably seen the Soho House isn’t just about lounges and workspaces; it’s a lifestyle brand — meaning food and drink is one of their highlights. It allows access to Soho House events in your city, providing an opportunity to network and engage without the commitment or price tag of a full membership.
